Washington DC artist Jonathan Tristram Miller created his first kinetic sculpture in 1990, having discovered and purchased several inspirational gear assemblies at a Los Angeles military surplus and salvage yard. When not engaged at his workbench, Mr. Miller develops environmental cleanup technologies as a Senior Scientist. He has an undergraduate degree in physics from Macalester College, and a master’s in civil engineering from Princeton University. Mr. Miller happily asserts that the sculptures shown here are well-engineered.
